Parable of life: Life and 1000 balls Date: Jan 14th @ 4:12pm EST
A few weeks ago, I made myself a Cup of coffee, picked up the morning paper, and sat down to listen to the radio. I turned the dial until the velvety voice of an old man caught my attention. He said something about"a thousand balls." I became interested, made the sound louder, and leaned back in my chair. "Well, â€" said the old man," I'll bet you're very busy at work." Yesterday, today, tomorrow. And let them pay you a lot. But for this money, they buy your life. Think about it, you don't spend this time with your loved ones. I can't believe you have to work all this time to make ends meet. You work to satisfy your desires. But know that this is a vicious circle â€" the more money you have, the more you want and the more you work to get even more. You need to be able to ask yourself at one point: "do I really need another blouse or a car? And for this you are ready to miss your daughter's first dance performance or your son's sports competition. Let me tell you something that really helped me keep and remember what's important in my life. "Look, one day I sat down and counted. The average person lives 75 years. I know some live less, others live more.. But they live about 75 years. Now I multiply 75 by 52 (the number of Sundays in a year) and get 3900 â€" so many Sundays in your life. When I thought about it, I was fifty-five. This meant that I had already lived about 2,900 Sundays. And I only had 1000 left. So I went to a toy store and bought 1000 small plastic balls. I put them all in one transparent jar. After that, every Sunday, I pulled out and threw out one ball.. And I noticed that when I did this and saw that the number of balls was decreasing, I began to pay more attention to the true values of this life. There is no more powerful tool than to watch the number of days allowed to you decrease! Now, listen to the last thought that I would like to share with you today before I hug my beloved wife and go for a walk with her. This morning, I pulled the last balloon out of my jar... So every subsequent day is a gift for me. I accept it with gratitude and give my loved ones warmth and joy. You know, I think this is the only way to live your life. I have no regrets.

The usual fees, a glance quickly looks around the room, although you know that you still can not take anything with you.
â€" How long will you be here?"
- Yes, as usual, one or two lives. I have some business to attend to.
"Oh, all right. Where will you be?"
"On earth, most likely. Last time I hesitated, I owe you one.
I've forgotten something, I think. What could I have forgotten here?
"And after that?" Can again monks?
â€" Um. Why not?... Although, you know, let's go back to Kali-Yuga one more time. Remember that case?:)
â€" Yes, you will forget this:) But you have accumulated merit, so that you can sit quietly in the monastery and practice.
"Well, as for' in the monastery ' â€" sooner or later you'll have to go out. Let's go at once â€" some man-made civilization, bad ecology, war, disease... oh... meat will have to be eaten again, BRR...

Parable of wisdom Date: Jan 11th @ 5:46pm EST
One day a man came to a Taoist monk and complained that no matter how hard he tried, he could not understand the wisdom of the world. And since he cannot understand the wisdom of the world, he doubts the wisdom of God. This is very confusing to him, so he came to ask the sage for help. The monk agreed to help this man, but on one condition: he would comply with his demands.
His first demand was to sit by the Bank and listen to the river sing.
"It is the voice of God," said the monk.
So the man did. But in the evening, when the monk asked him if he understood the wisdom of the world, he shook his head.
Then the monk ordered the man to look into the fire.
â€" This is the dance of God, " he said.
But in the morning again the man said that he did not understand the wisdom of the world. The earth and the air also told him nothing of the wisdom of the world, for man had not discerned their secrets.
The monk considered. And on the third day he said:
â€" Then look inside yourself, where all your doubts lie.
And when man saw the reflection of the whole universe in his soul, he understood the wisdom of God. And the doubts receded, and peace filled his soul.

In the old days, an old woman used to meditate on the banks of the Ganges ... One morning, having finished her meditations, she saw a scorpion floundering helplessly in a fast stream ... Then the current carried the scorpion closer to the shore, and it became entangled in the roots hanging in the water ... The unfortunate creature was desperately trying to free itself, but only became more entangled ... The old woman immediately extended her hand to the drowning scorpion, but as soon as she touched it, it stung her hand ... Then the woman drew back her hand, restored her balance she tried to save the scorpion again ... But with every attempt, the scorpion’s tail stung her with such force that her hands began to bleed and her face was distorted from pain ... A passerby walked by ... seeing how the old woman was trying to pull out the scorpion, he cried out: “What are you doing?” crazy? Do you really want to ki1l yourself to save this ugly creature? She looked him in the eye and answered: - In the nature of a scorpion - to sting, in mine - to save ... Why am I because of its nature to reject my own?
Parable: Rosebud and thorns Date: Jan 9th @ 5:12pm EST
Once a man planted a rose, sincerely courted her, watered it. And before she blossomed, he examined her. He saw a bud that was about to open, he also noticed thorns on the stem, and thought: “How can a beautiful flower grow out of a plant with many prickly thorns?” Saddened by this thought, he abandoned watering the rose, and the flower died just before to bloom.
Tsiolkovsky - Founder of Austronautics Date: Jan 8th @ 1:58pm EST
Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, the founder of astronautics, was born in 1857, in the village of Izhevsk, in Ryazansky province. When he was ten he had scarlet fever, and was left permanently deaf. This had a great influence on his life.

Only when Tsiolkovsky reached the age of fifteen he begun to study elementary mathematics. At about this time he first thought of constructing a large balloon with a metallic envelope. Realizing that his knowledge was not enough, he began to study higher mathematics. The result was that he became a mathematics and physics teacher and remained so for nearly forty years.

Tsiolkovsky carried out experiments on steam engines for a time, but then he returned to the theoretical study of the metallic dirigible. In 1887, his first published paper on the dirigible appeared. Mendeleyev was interested in this work and helped Tsiolkovsky. The account of this aeronautical work was submitted to the Academy of Sciences who regarded it favourably and made Tsiolkovsky a grant of 470 roubles.

He had not given up his idea about space travel. A popular report on this subject was first published in 1895. Tsiolkovsky’s idea of a spaceship was based on the use of liquid fuels.

During the next fifteen years Tsiolkovsky worked over other designs for spaceships. They were not meant to be working drawings for the construction of these vessells but as a rough guide to the equipment. Some of them are now standard practice in the guided missile field. He published several articles and books dealing with the mathematical theory of rocket flights and space travel. His calculations were used in modern theory of cosmonautics and practical space flights. They showed that it would be possible to travel out into space in rockets and even to set up manned space stations around the Earth.

Tsiolkovsky’s contribution to science is so great that he is considered to be «Father of Cosmonautics».
